There are many things that I love about being a PEI family and wedding photographer. One of my favourite things is being asked to take family photos somewhere that I have never been. I live on gorgeous Prince Edward Island where it is literally beautiful everywhere you go! When I think of PEI, I think of red dirt, whether it be roads or cliffs, beaches, and field of hay bales. So when I was asked to head out to a family cottage in Hampton, I didn’t hesitate for one second.
What I like so much about this location for family photos is that the red dirt road which is so iconic to PEI, is anchored by farm land and gorgeous lupins. For those of you who don’t know what lupins are, they are considered a weed. They are mostly found in ditches and arrive in June to only stay a few weeks. Another reason I love this location is that the dirt road is wide enough to fit an entire family. The only downside is that there is no shade coverage. This can cause some pretty harsh highlights and shadows on my subjects but the beauty more than makes up for that.
