I remember being so overwhelmed trying to figure out what camera I should buy to start my photography journey. That is the reason why I decided to share with you the best cameras for beginners.
I should start by saying that the camera is only one aspect of a great photo. You have to learn how to manually control your camera and master your settings before you move onto mastering editing and lighting!
With that in mind, I will start with the camera that I used when I first started taking pictures, the Canon Rebel T3i. Canon has an entire Rebel series that would be perfect for a beginner. The thing that you have to remember is that any camera is great these days! They have come so so far with technology. The equivalent starter for Nikon is the D3400 and the Sony a6000.
I am a canon shooter and therefore biased on those cameras. I tried using a Fuji before and ended up selling it because I just didn’t love it.
My suggestion to anyone looking at buying their first camera or upgrading their camera is to look for used. Facebook marketplace and Kijiji is a great place to start when searching.
Now that you have all of the information you need to make an informed decision, go get yourself that camera and then head to my post “How to Shoot in Manual Mode”. Here you will learn all about how to use your new camera. I should also mention that I have an online course for beginner photographers that opens for enrolment in June!!
Make sure to sign up for my newsletter to be notified when a new post goes up and I also offer tips n’ tricks weekly AND when I open doors to my course.
Keep Snappin’,
Nicole xoxo
