Boost Your Business With These Tips On How To Build A Wedding Photography Portfolio

Invest in a Styled Shoot or Content Day

One of the very best things you can do for your business is to attend a workshop. This will give you the chance to create connections with other photographers while also teaching you crucial photography skills. Many workshops will give you the ability to participate in a styled portfolio-building wedding shoot using their own models and venues. Then you get to grab some shots and post on your pages, showing off your unique style.

Host Your Own Styled Shoot

If you want to really invest in your business, I highly recommend booking your own styled wedding photography shoot to build your portfolio! While participating in someone else’s styled shoot might give you experience, hosting your own session lets you curate your ideal client. You can check out venues you want to work with and style your model however you’d like. Before you get started, be sure to create a shot list so you can get the pictures you will want to share with potential clients.

Host a Giveaway

Let’s be honest. Planning a wedding is expensive, and a lot of people are trying to figure out how they can cut costs. Hosting a giveaway benefits both couples and your business. You can get real-world experience and pics for your portfolio while they get to save some money. This doesn’t necessarily have to be a wedding, either. You can use your website to run giveaways for engagement or couple sessions.

By the way, doing it through social media is an amazing way to organically grow your follower count!

Run a Model Call

Much like giveaways, running a model call allows people to enjoy your services for free (or deeply discounted) while building up your portfolio. At the same time, this allows you to be pickier about who you work with. A model call lets you go into the session with a specific vision in mind. You can handpick the potential models who perfectly embody your style, leaving you with pics that will appeal to your dream clientele. You will also get to give your full say in the finished product, from locations to poses.
