Being a new mom, you read and research so many different things that people say you need. I found myself looking to other bloggers for their reviews on products that they have used and what they felt was necessary. To be honest, there really aren’t many things that you NEED before your baby arrives. Here is a list of some infant products you should have before bringing your little one home:
After the essential infant products, there are so many products and gadgets that you may think you need for your baby. None of what I am going to mention are things that you need, but so far they have been really great for us.
The Brest Friend Nursing Pillow hands down the best money I spent when preparing for the arrival of our little guy. After day two it was already worth the price tag! Unlike other nursing pillows, the Brest Friend goes all the way around you. It has an adjustable belt and provides you with back support. The material that the baby actually lays on isn’t like your traditional fluffy pillow, it has foam filling which helps to support the baby. The cover is easily removable and it also comes with a cute little pocket that I always kept my lipgloss in. I can’t say enough good things about this nursing pillow! It was one of my favorite infant products.
I know that I could have looked for a second hand play gym but for some reason this was something I really wanted. The Lovevery Baby Play Gym apparatus is made of wood so it is very sturdy. It comes with three attachments that can be removed so that your baby can use the items when they are a bit older. The black and white contrast ball is great for when your little is learning to grasp things and the wooden batting ring has so far just been kicked but he loves it because it has a bell in it. The third attachment is the colourful teether which won’t be used for awhile for us.
The mat itself is shaped like a pentagon. On each side, there is a different learning opportunity. The one that is flipped up has 4 inserts that you can change as your little ages. We started off with the black and white images and he LOVES starring at them!! It also comes with mirrors, pictures of babies and their body parts and common objects that kids typically see out and about. The other four sides have tabs: “Explore colors”, “Making sounds”, “How things feel”, and “Hiding and Finding”. They are geared for learning during tummy time.
The Lovevery Baby Play Gym is a bit on the pricier side but I think if you plan on using it with multiple children then I definitely think it’s work the investment.
Ok, I’m the worst! I couldn’t get it down to just three so I guess I should really rename this post but honestly who ever makes a list of 4 things?? Nobody! It’s either 3 or 5 and I couldn’t think of a fifth thing that I found was crucial. So let’s get on with it!
What is the Hatch Baby Rest you ask?? The best multi-functional product since the Swiss army knife! Okay, that may be a bit much but the Hatch Baby Rest is a night light, white noise machine and has a Time-to-Rise function. The super cool thing about it is you can control it all from your phone! You just download the app and you have everything you need right at your fingertips! There are multiple colors you can choose from for the night light and we use yellow. When reading up on it, it says that Red, yellow and orange colors are best because the light that our eyes use to tell that it’s daytime is blue/green so when we use the red/yellow/orange hues we don’t have those frequencies and we don’t get the signal that it’s daytime.
It has a variety of different sounds that can be played and you can pair up which light and sound you prefer. You can create favorites and they are all saved in the app.
I haven’t used the Time-to-Rise function yet because well my little guy has no idea what day and night even is yet! BUT, you set a time that you want the color to change to at a certain time. Your little one then knows when they’re allowed to get out of bed. I plan to incorporate this into Olin’s sleep routine when he is old enough to understand.
The last thing that I wanted to review is the Halo Swaddle Sleepsack. In my opinion, a sleepsack is a MUST. Experts say that you are not supposed to put anything in the crib with your baby including a blanket. The sleepsack is basically a baby sleeping bag with holes for your babies arms to go through like a vest. The swaddle version has wings that wrap around the baby and velcro so that the babes is nice and snug.
Please leave a comment with some of your favorite infant products that you think that I may like to try!! I would really appreciate it 🙂
