Olin turned 3 back on January 11th and well, life has been BUSY so I haven’t had the chance to post!! I had so many plans for his birthday party and his little friends but due to Covid…we had a birthday with both sets of grandparents. As I’m reflecting back, how many kids get to celebrate with BOTH sets of grandparents?? That is awesome on its own…so now I actually don’t feel as bad. He has been into monster trucks lately and Monster Jam in general. When our TV is on, it’s streaming Monster Jam shows. So obviously, I did a Monster Jam theme birthday. Who was I decorating for you ask? I have no damn clue. I think it was the mom guilt in me that felt bad that he wasn’t having a party with his little friends. However, he has no clue what a birthday party even is but, I decorated for him anyways.

As I was struggling hard with the cake, my husband said to me, “You would think you would maybe do a trial cake before diving in but no, you’re like I can do this”. He’s not wrong, I just take an idea and go with it. The cake ended up being a bit too moist and so the icing kept picking up crumbs while I was spreading it. I was getting so frustrated but then thought, no one cares Nicole! It will all taste the same. And my thoughts were right, Olin loved it just the same and that’s all that matters.

We bought him a couple new monster trucks and set them on the cake. They didn’t last up there very long because he wanted to play. Who can blame him?!

We grabbed some pizza for supper and then the grandparents came over for cake.

I hope that by the time it’s his birthday next year, Covid will be a thing of the past and we can have a proper party.
