Whether you live on Prince Edward Island or you’re visiting, I want to share with you the Top 4 Photo Locations on PEI. Some of these locations are great if you are having your photos professionally taken and others are gorgeous landscape areas on the Island. Whatever the occasion, these are 4 photos you won’t want to miss.
Cape Tryon Lighthouse used to be a sacred place that only locals really knew about but it has since blown up in popularity by tourists as well. This location is great for both professional photos being taken or if you are a landscape enthusiast. It seems that most of the tourists go to Cape Tryon Lighthouse to watch the sunset on the edge of the cliff. I will add the disclaimer that this location is also quite dangerous. So, if you decide to make the 50 minute drive from Charlottetown, be careful and watch your step!
What I love about the New London Lighthouse is that it’s just a short drive from Cape Tryon so you can hit both in one go. The other part that I love about this location is that you can get photos with the dune grass and lighthouse in the background AND you can go down to the beach for the quintessential PEI photos.
Luckily this year, summer of 2025, it’s free to enter the National Parks on PEI which includes Greenwich. This location is more of a scenery stop for the landscape enthusiasts. I suggest bringing some comfy shoes as there’s a bit of a walk to get to the beauty. There is a floating boardwalk that leads to beautiful sand dunes and a beach. In my opinion, this would be a good activity for an overcast day or a day that it’s not quite warm enough to swim or have a proper beach day. Then, when you are finished, you can stop in to the little shops in St. Peter’s or maybe after your little adventure, you’d prefer having an afternoon at the Mysa Nordic Spa.
As a local to PEI, I prefer the North Shore beaches due to the soft, white sand. However, if the tides are right, a couple of hours at a South Shore beach at low tide is perfect, especially with small kids. The shallow tide pools allow for warmer water for the little ones to explore and also shows the iconic rich red sand. These beaches can also be the perfect backdrop for family photos. Some examples would be the beach at the very end of Kinlock Road in Stratford, Canoe Cove, or the beaches surrounding Hampton and on the way to Borden.
I hope that these Top 4 Photo Locations on PEI help you decide what to do during the next nice weekend here on Prince Edward Island.
