I used to be that girl who always ordered chicken fingers and fries or a club sandwich at restaurants. I worked as a waitress for many years but it was always at pub style restaurants so when I started working at The Claddagh Oyster House it was a big adjustment. Read on to find out why this is one of my top restaurants on Prince Edward Island. I am sure the chefs would roll their eyes every time they saw me coming with my many questions on what different menu items were. This was the beginning of my love for quality food.
My favourite year-round restaurant is hands down The Claddagh Oyster House. It has a variety of main dishes and also some classic island favourites like lobster, mussels and mouth watering seafood chowder. The appetizers run around $14-$25 per plate and the main courses start at $24. My husband and I like to make a night out of it and spend a few hours enjoying the food, wine and atmosphere! We love it so much there that we decided to have our wedding dinner there!! We had 60 of our closest friends and family 🙂

In the summertime there are a few restaurants that I absolutely require, my favourite being the Blue Mussel Cafe. It’s a good thing that it’s a 25-30 minute drive from Charlottetown, otherwise I would be there every week. My go-to meal is the “Your Favorite Linguine”. The view from the quaint restaurant overlooks a portion of Rustico Bay which makes the drive worth it but I should mention that they do not take reservations. They now have a waitlist that you can sign up for to avoid a super long wait! I have yet to go to the new location and hoping to make it there for my birthday dinner in July. I will make sure to add

An island favourite is Richard’s Fresh Seafood which is a fish shack located at Covehead Harbour famous for it’s jam packed lobster rolls! Richards is a very casual place often lined up down the parking lot which is why they have since opened two additional restaurants. You can find L’il Richard’s (A smaller Richard’s Fresh Seafood) in Brackley or you could venture to the beautiful town of Victoria and have your fresh seafood there. It is definitely worth the wait and the drive.

If you’re looking for a restaurant with a huge deck overlooking Rustico Harbour, then you should make the drive and try The Rustico Cannery. You can find their menu and photos on their facebook page here. It just opened Summer 2026 and I cannot wait to go try their food. I have high expectations because the owners have other restaurants in Charlottetown, all with delicious food.
Ok one more before I take you to the restaurants in Charlottetown. This next spot is definitely in my top 5 and soon to be just down the road from my new house. It’s FiN Folk Food in Grand Tracadie. My go-to meal are the fish tacos! Why are they so good?? I think it’s a combination of the soft shell tortilla outside of the hard shell taco and topped with mango slaw. I’ve honestly never tried anything else, however, my husband loves the fish and chips and scallops. This is a great place to go after a day at Tracadie beach with the kids or grab take-out and eat it on the beach.

Make sure to reach out to me if you have any favourite restuarants on Prince Edward Island that you think I would love or want suggestions on other places especially in the wintertime when a lot of the seasonal restaurants are closed.
Stay positive*
