Top Wedding Venues in Prince Edward Island

When it comes to planning an unforgettable wedding, choosing the perfect venue is so important. Prince Edward Island, whether you call it home or you are planning a destination wedding, offers an array of gorgeous venues that display the Island’s natural beauty and warm hospitality. In this blog post, I’m going to share my top wedding venues in Prince Edward Island as a PEI wedding photographer. Each come with its own pros and cons but all are beautiful and demonstrate PEI’s beauty. So let’s break down the top wedding venues in Prince Edward Island.

1. Gartney Grove

Nestled amidst rolling hills and lush gardens of Bonshaw, Gartney Grove provides a romantic and intimate setting for your wedding. This picturesque venue offers charming outdoor spaces, such as blooming orchards and serene woodlands, ideal for exchanging vows and celebrating amidst nature’s embrace.

Pros: Timber tent is draped with lights on the roof, new venue in 2023, outdoor space for ceremony.

Cons: Located 20 minutes from Charlottetown which isn’t a big deal until it’s time for your guests to go home. You would have to either plan for transportation back into Charlottetown or have designated drivers.

2. Clinton Hills Weddings & Events

Set on a sprawling countryside estate, Clinton Hills offers a blend of rustic charm and modern elegance. This stunning venue features a beautifully restored barn and manicured gardens, providing a magical backdrop for an idyllic outdoor ceremony or a chic indoor reception.

Pros: Outdoor ceremony space is absolutely gorgeous tucked away in the woods, can hold ceremony, cocktail hour AND reception all in one location.

Cons: Located 40 minutes outside of Charlottetown so transportation would have to be arranged or designated drivers assigned.

3. PEI Brewing Company

If you’re seeking a unique and vibrant atmosphere for your wedding celebration, look no further than The PEI Brewing Company. This industrial-chic venue showcases the island’s thriving craft beer scene and offers versatile event spaces, allowing you to create a personalized experience for you and your guests.

Pros: Located in Charlottetown so access to accommodations and transportation is great. It’s an all in one wedding venue with space for your ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. Limited decor required because the space already looks stunning with it’s giant chandeliers.

Cons: Higher price tag.

4. Delta Prince Edward

Overlooking Charlottetown’s picturesque waterfront, The Delta Prince Edward is a luxurious and sophisticated hotel that combines elegance with stunning views. With its floor to ceiling windowed ballroom, upscale accommodations, and impeccable service, this venue sets the stage for a memorable and glamorous wedding.

Pros: Guests can stay in the hotel or walk to other hotels in downtown Charlottetown. Large patio overlooking the marina where you can host your ceremony and/or cocktail hour.

Cons: Everyday pedestrians and tourists are continually walking by the large patio as the popular boardwalk wraps around the hotel. I don’t think most people would notice this, but as a photographer, the carpet is hideous and really throws off the photos in the reception area.

5. Rodd Crowbush Golf & Beach Resort

Imagine exchanging vows against the backdrop of pristine white sand beaches and hearing the waves crashing in the background. The Rodd Crowbush Golf & Beach Resort offers precisely that and more.

Pros: Guests can stay in the hotel and make a golf weekend out of it. You’re able to have your ceremony on the beach or on the green space which looks towards the rolling hills leading up to the gold clubhouse.

Cons: It’s a long walk to the beach. The beach is often windy and locals and/or guests are lounging at the beach. If it rains, the reception hall is just fair unless drapery is used on the ceiling and decor is really well done. The hotel rooms are outdated.

6. Rodd Charlottetown

Located in the heart of Charlottetown, The Rodd Charlottetown blends historic charm with contemporary elegance. This stately hotel boasts elegant ballrooms, grand chandeliers, and accommodations for guests, creating a refined and sophisticated ambiance for your wedding celebration.

Pros: The traditional chicken/turkey dinner is the best wedding food I’ve ever had, except on my wedding day but you can read about that here. Guests are able to stay in the hotel where everything takes place including the ceremony if you should choose. Located in downtown Charlottetown.

Cons: Guests often leave the dance to go to their rooms for drinks instead of staying at the reception and paying for drinks. The hotel rooms are outdated.

7. The Rodd Brudenell River Resort

Tucked away in a serene woodland setting, The Rodd Brudenell offers a tranquil retreat for couples seeking a nature-inspired wedding. With its outdoor ceremony space overlooking the Brudenell River, this venue provides an idyllic backdrop for a romantic outdoor ceremony or a cozy indoor celebration.

Pros: Guests can either stay in the hotel or one of the cottages. The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception can all be held at the venue.

Cons: The outdoor ceremony location has no shade so can get quite hot. The hotel rooms are outdated.

8. The New London Carriage House

The Carriage House is an ideal venue for a romantic wedding on Prince Edward Island. This historic property features a beautifully restored carriage house, expansive lawns, and gardens, evoking a sense of timeless elegance and providing a truly magical setting.

Pros: Area for an outdoor ceremony with an outbuilding available if it rains. Able to hire your own caterer. Area for the bridal party to get ready. The ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception can all be held at the venue. The restored carriage house is gorgeous and therefore minimal decor is needed to make it look great.

Cons: 35 minutes outside of Charlottetown with limited accommodations nearby so transportation would have to be organized or designated drivers assigned. You have to find your own caterer.

9. Stanley Bridge Country Resort

Nestled near the charming fishing village of Stanley Bridge, Stanley Bridge Country Resort captures the essence of island living. Surrounded by rolling green hills and offering breathtaking water views, this resort provides a serene and picturesque backdrop for your wedding, along with exceptional hospitality and various accommodation options.

Pros: Guests are able to stay in the hotel or cottages. Minutes away from tourist attraction Cavendish. Ability to have ceremony outdoors overlooking the rolling hills.

Cons: 35 minutes outside of Charlottetown with limited accommodations nearby so transportation would have to be organized or designated drivers assigned. Hotel rooms are outdated.

10. Fox Meadows Golf Course

For couples seeking a blend of natural beauty and refined charm, Fox Meadows Golf and Country Club is an ideal choice. Set against the backdrop of rolling fairways and pristine greens, this venue offers a picturesque setting for an outdoor ceremony, while its elegant clubhouse provides a sophisticated space for a memorable reception.

Pros: Minutes away from Charlottetown so guests are able to stay within Charlottetown and easily get to and from the venue.

Cons: If you plan on having your ceremony outdoors, there are limited options if it rains. The ceilings in the venue space are low creating a bit of a crammed feeling.

All in all, Prince Edward Island’s top wedding venues all come with their own pros and cons but as a PEI wedding photographer, I can tell you that each and every one of these venues would be a great choice!! If you have any specific questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me!
